Residential:
Most manufacturer’s recommend annual servicing of domestic air conditioning units, to maintain optimum efficiency. Poorly maintained systems can suffer significant losses in efficiency which results in poor performance, higher running costs and shortened life expectancy. Corrosion is a big problem in coastal areas so part of the service process is to treat any corrosion which increases the life of the unit.
Commercial:
Commercial systems are generally subject to a dirtier environment (as seen in the above photos) and so require servicing more often than domestic systems. Over the years there have been numerous examples of ‘sick building syndrome’ being traced back to poorly maintained a/c plant. Australian standards require commercial air conditioning systems to be checked monthly and for some types of systems e.g. Cooling Towers there are very strict regulations that must be adhered to.
